Issue 21: My chapbook is now…a playlist!
Plus, catch my (online!) reading this Thursday at 6:30 PT/9:30 ET
Strawberries,
Hello! I hope this finds you well in all ways.
Two exciting things to share with ya this week:
I have a (virtual!) reading this Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 pm PT / 9:30 pm ET. I’m still awaiting the Zoom link, but I’ll share it here and on Instagram as soon as I have it. Mark your cal!
The Funny Thing About A Panic Attack is now a Spotify playlist(!), thanks to my friend, the ferociously talented poet Cee Chávez, whom you might remember from the collaborative piece we wrote together.
Cee absolutely ~nailed it~ with this, taking the entire universe – and entire history! – of music and creating 13 songs that both embody, and begin a dynamic conversation with, the poems in my collection.
The first time I listened, I pulled up the lyrics to each song alongside the poems and read/listened as each song both mirrored and heightened each poem. Since then, I’ve just been listening to the playlist on its own – it’s a positively killer track list in and of itself.
A million thanks to Cee for their collaboration, brilliance, and undying enthusiasm for my work. (And psst…keep an eye out for some major news about Cee’s poetry as well. Coming soon…!)
Ok, y’all – happy reading and happy listening!
With love and thanks and The Flaming Lips,
Ben
