Hellloooo, Strawberries!
Happy (almost!) weekend. Coming atcha with some quick fun things:
1. I’m doing a reading in Portland on Friday, 2/16.
Yep, I’ll be reading at Bishop & Wilde bookstore in Portland at 7:00 pm alongside poet/musician Joshua Barnhart and Cee Chávez, a dear friend from my poetry class, whom you might remember from our funky lil’ collab and the playlist they made for my chapbook. Hope to see ya in PDX!
2. My poem “Timelapse” was published in Bodega!
I’m proud and excited about this one, a) because I’m a major fan of Bodega and I’d pitched them a whole buncha times before I finally got accepted, and b) because I’d almost given up on this poem, until my poetry friend Dani reassured me that it was worth sticking with and revising and submitting. Thank you, Dani, for believing in my work, even when I didn’t. “Timelapse” is one of the most enigmatic, and richest, poems in my chapbook — hope you enjoy!
3. A book I worked on, My Life: Growing Up Native in America, is available for preorder!
I had the privilege of collaborating with Crystal Echo Hawk (Pawnee) and her fantastic team at IllumiNative on writing and editing My Life: Growing Up Native in America, which features twenty powerful essays, poems, and more that capture and celebrate the modern Native American experience. Learn more and pre-order a copy here.
With love and thanks and strawberries and dreidels and poems and books,
Ben
