Hello, frands & fam & fans & miscellaneous beloveds!
An update from here: I have, on a whim, renamed this newsletter “A Strawberry Spinning Like A Dreidel”!
Why? I’m not sure, exactly, but something about that image feels fresh & sweet & delightful (and also Jewish). It has momentum and a little magic — like this newsletter! So…we’ll try it out!
Let me know what you think — about the name, the newsletter, anything in general. I so appreciate your energy & enthusiasm & support on all my journeys, creative and otherwise.
With love and thanks,
Ben

1. Poem: “Notepads”
What does list-making have to do with depression and with love? My poem searches for an answer, and discovers what it means to need someone.
2. Organization: Welcome.US
I’ve been working with Welcome.US, an org that connects refugees seeking safety with communities of sponsors providing housing, healthcare, and other essential needs in the US. I’ll have more of my work to share as we approach World Refugee Day (June 20), but in the meantime, check out this video I wrote, and learn more about joining a community of sponsors with your coworkers, congregation, or neighbors. Together, we can build a life-changing bridge to safety for newcomers seeking refuge, opportunity, and a fresh start.
3. Recommendation: “10-Year-Old Kai Xing Kills The Beat” (Dance Video)
Check out this 10-year-old dancer positively tearing it up to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” The energy! The joy! The attitude! The change of pace and levels and styles (I counted no fewer than three — locking, waacking, krumping)! It’ll make your day, I promise.
